Arms Warrior

Melee DPS low demand

A methodical two-handed weapon specialist that excels in PvP with Mortal Strike but takes a back seat in PvE raids.

How It Feels to Play

Arms is the Warrior's PvP identity. You walk into a battleground with a massive two-hander, pop Sweeping Strikes, and watch health bars evaporate. Mortal Strike hits like a truck and applies a healing debuff that makes healers panic. In Arena, Arms Warriors paired with a good healer are a legitimate terror.

In PvE, though, the story changes. Arms falls behind Fury in sustained single-target damage, and the Mortal Strike healing debuff doesn't help much against raid bosses. You'll occasionally see an Arms Warrior brought for the Blood Frenzy talent (a physical damage debuff on the boss), but most raid leaders would rather you respec Fury.

The playstyle is slower and more deliberate than Fury. You're watching for Overpower procs, managing your Mortal Strike cooldown, and looking for moments to use Sweeping Strikes on cleave packs. It's satisfying in a 'quality over quantity' kind of way, with fewer button presses, but each one hits harder.

Complexity

Strengths

  • Dominant in PvP and Arena
  • Mortal Strike healing reduction is invaluable against healers
  • Blood Frenzy talent provides a useful raid debuff

Pain Points

  • Significantly lower PvE DPS than Fury
  • Rarely wanted in raids outside of one debuff slot
  • Gear dependent; needs slow, hard-hitting two-handers to shine

Demand & Supply

low demand

Mostly a PvP spec. Occasionally brought to raids for the Blood Frenzy debuff, but most guilds prefer Fury Warriors for DPS. Arena groups love Arms Warriors, though.

Talent Build

Arms PvP / Blood Frenzy Raid

35/23/3
Mortal Strike
Powerful instant attack that reduces healing on the target by 50%
Blood Frenzy
Your Rend and Deep Wounds cause the target to take 4% more physical damage
Sweeping Strikes
Your next 5 melee attacks hit an additional nearby target
Endless Rage
You generate 25% more rage from damage dealt

This build maximizes Arms damage while picking up key Fury talents like Cruelty (5% crit) and Unbridled Wrath. Blood Frenzy is your raid utility: a 4% physical damage taken debuff on the boss benefits all physical DPS. For pure PvP, you can move the 3 points from Protection (Improved Bloodrage) into Arms for Improved Hamstring.

Hit cap is 9% for dual-wield special attacks (142 hit rating). Once you're hit capped, Expertise reduces dodge and parry, so stack it to the soft cap. After that, crit fuels your damage and Overpower procs.
