Subtlety Rogue

Melee DPS low demand

The ultimate PvP Rogue spec with Shadowstep and Preparation, but poor PvE viability.

How It Feels to Play

Subtlety is the PvP Rogue spec, and it's an absolute blast in Arena and Battlegrounds. Shadowstep teleports you behind your target, Preparation resets all your cooldowns, and Hemorrhage is a fast, efficient combo-point builder. You're a ghost: appearing, bursting, vanishing, and reappearing somewhere else.

In PvP, Subtlety Rogues are terrifying. You open from stealth with a devastating Ambush or Cheap Shot, burst the target with Shadowstep and cooldowns, and if things go wrong, you Vanish and reset. Preparation gives you a second Vanish, a second Evasion, a second everything. The outplay potential is limitless.

In PvE, though, Subtlety is a hard pass. The damage simply doesn't compete with Combat or Assassination. Hemorrhage is a weaker combo-point builder than Sinister Strike, and the PvP-focused talents don't translate to raid encounters. If your guild is casual and doesn't mind, you can raid as Subtlety, but you'll be carried by the content rather than contributing your fair share.

A PvP-only spec with no real PvE demand. If you want to raid, you'll need to respec Combat or Assassination. But for Arena, Subtlety Rogues are in high demand for teams.

Hemorrhage is your combo point builder (cheaper than Sinister Strike). This build is for PvP and Arena only. Do not use it in raids.

Subtlety is a PvP spec, so Resilience is your top stat to reduce crit damage and chance. Hit cap in PvP is lower (5% vs players). Agility gives crit for Ambush openers. Stamina keeps you alive. This is PvP gearing, so raid stats don't apply.
