Discipline Priest

Healer medium demand

A shield-focused healer that prevents damage before it happens and provides powerful tank support.

How It Feels to Play

Discipline in TBC is primarily a PvP healing spec, but it sees some raid use too. The core idea is Power Word: Shield. You prevent damage rather than healing it after the fact. In Arena, a Discipline Priest is one of the most durable healers, with Pain Suppression reducing a target's damage taken by 40% and Reflective Shield bouncing damage back at attackers.

In raids, Discipline is less common than Holy, but it has a niche. Power Infusion is a cooldown that boosts a caster's spell damage and reduces their mana cost, making it a valuable buff for your top DPS. Some raids bring one Discipline Priest specifically for this.

The playstyle is more proactive than reactive. You're shielding people before damage hits, using Pain Suppression at the exact right moment, and Power Infusing your best DPS player during burn phases. It requires good fight knowledge and anticipation, which makes it feel cerebral and strategic.
