Hunter

Alliance Horde very high population

Hunters are ranged physical damage dealers who fight alongside loyal animal companions. They're one of the most popular classes in TBC thanks to their ease of leveling, strong solo capabilities, and competitive raid DPS. If you like the idea of a self-sufficient ranged attacker, Hunter is your class.

How It Feels to Play

Hunters in TBC are the definition of comfortable. You have a pet to tank for you while leveling, you deal damage from range so you avoid most mechanics, and you bring Misdirection — one of the most useful utility spells in the game. Life is good as a Hunter.

The class fantasy is all about ranged mastery and your bond with your pet. You've got traps for crowd control, Feign Death to drop threat (or avoid a repair bill), and a huge toolkit of shots and stings. You're also one of the few classes that uses a physical resource (mana in TBC, but it regenerates differently thanks to Aspect of the Viper in later phases).

Hunters are everywhere in TBC — they're one of the most played classes — which means competition for raid spots can be fierce. But top-performing Hunters are absolutely wanted. Beast Mastery in particular is one of the strongest DPS specs in early TBC, and the skill ceiling is higher than people give Hunters credit for. Managing your pet, weaving steady shots between auto-shots, and using your utility properly separates a good Hunter from a great one.
